May is when baseball teams start to push on the gas a little harder with the end of the regular season and playoffs starting to come into view.
After several of the top teams in the Peoria and Bloomington/Normal area, such as Dunlap, Normal Community and Tremont, suffered losses in mid-to-late April, a majority of them have ensured that they were just minor blips on the radar. However, a case can be made that some of the most intriguing teams to watch in the area are the dark horses on winning streaks.
Metamora and Farmington fit that bill and elevated their position in Clutch Sports Media’s weekly baseball power rankings, which feature the top five small school teams all being from different conferences.

Teams in the Mid-Illini and the Big 12 are part of the large school rankings while area schools from any other conference are in the small school rankings.
