Morton’s close win over Washington rocked the boat in the Central Illinois girls basketball landscape, but once the Potters sat in the captain’s chair, it was smooth sailing the rest of the week for the area’s top squads.
Peoria Notre Dame, Richwoods and Illini Bluffs continued to roll while a trio of Heart of Illinois Conference teams in this week’s rankings built up win streaks heading into this week’s HOIC Tournament. Several teams have eight or less games left before the postseason starts, meaning that creating and sustaining momentum is vital at this point of the season.
The CSM Girls Basketball Power Rankings take a look at the top teams in the Peoria and Bloomington/Normal area heading into the third week of January. Teams in the Mid-Illini and the Big 12 as part of the large school rankings while area schools from any other conference are in the small school rankings.
