Fieldcrest's Reichman, Dunlap's Sollberger win CSM Winter Athletes of the Week

A pair of local hoops standouts that led their teams to respective success last week are winners of the latest edition of the CSM Winter Athlets of the Week: Fieldcrest's Connor Reichman and Dunlap's Julia Sollberger.


Both players won the most amount of votes in their respective Boys Athlete of the Week and Girls Athlete of the Week polls earlier in the week. The full list of nominees and their accomplishments can be found here.


Reichman won the CSM Boys Athlete of the Week poll with 60 percent of the vote total. He and Fieldcrest have seen plenty of success this season after a 7-0 start and winning the Colmone Classic title over Rock Falls last Thursday. The senior guard led the Knights by scoring 21 in their championship win, as well as their semifinal victory over LaSalle-Peru. He added 10 points on a balanced scoring night for Fieldcrest in a quarterfinal win over Putnam County earlier in the week as well. As a result, Reichman and teammate Brady Ruestman were both named to the all-tournament team.

What are your goals for the season? 

"Make it to state"


If you were stranded on an island with a teammate, who would you want it to be and why? 

"Dallas Cox, because he would make the time more enjoyable"


Favorite food?

"Steak"


I’d want concert tickets to see?

"Zach Bryan"


If I could have a superpower it would be?

"Super strength"


Who do you think is the greatest basketball player of all time? 

"Michael Jordan"


Who’s your role model and why?

"My dad because of his success and everything he has done for my family"


What’s been your favorite memory of the season so far? 

"Being named to the all-tournament team for the first time and winning the Colmone Classic"


Sollberger won CSM Girls Athlete of the Week with 59 percent of the vote total after helping Dunlap continue its winning streak, which currently stands at five games, with a pair of victories last week. The senior guard/forward lit up Rock Falls for 29 points by making 12 of her 16 shots from the field, along with swiping eight steals. The Northern Illinois commit furthered her strong week by helping the Eagles to a win over Limestone, netting 18 points.


What are your goals for the season? 

"I would love to win a regional title and get first in conference this season"


If you were stranded on an island with a teammate, who would you want it to be and why? 

"Justice [Krus] or Kelis [Morris] for sure would be my pick to be stranded with. They are both so funny and I just know we would have a great time."


Favorite food?

"My favorite food is by far sushi"


I’d want concert tickets to see?

"Either Zach Bryan or Kanye West"


If I could have a superpower it would be?

"The ability to fly so I could sleep a little longer and still make it on time"


Who do you think is the greatest basketball player of all time? 

"Michael Jordan is the greatest player of all time, no other option"


Who’s your role model and why?

"My dad because I always see the hard work he puts into everything and his values in life have really become a big part of my life as I find them to be really admirable"


What’s been your favorite memory of the season so far?

"My favorite memory has been going up as a team to go watch one of our former teammates play. The bus ride was so much fun and we all had a great time since we've always had really good team chemistry both on and off the court."
