First AP rankings of IHSA football season feature 11 Central Illinois teams

The first Associated Press statewide football rankings of the season were released on Aug. 27 and eleven Central Illinois football teams were either ranked or received votes. 


Tri-Valley was ranked the highest among them in Class 2A, while Farmington, Normal Community, Peoria High and Metamora will begin the year with a number next to their names as well.


The IHSA’s enrollment adjustments in the offseason led to several teams being ranked in different classes from where they played last year. Notably, Metamora is ranked in Class 4A and Normal U-High is ranked in Class 5A.
