CHILLICOTHE – Wednesday’s Class 2A IVC sectional semifinals provided a ton of action, including pitcher’s duels, home runs and a special victory for the Grey Ghosts on their home field.

In front of a large and rowdy home crowd, top-seeded IVC shut out No. 7 seed Peoria Notre Dame 4-0, bringing the Grey Ghosts to the doorstep of their first sectional title since 2010. Now, the many young fans in attendance have their own magical IVC team to look up to.

“It felt really good. I love the atmosphere here and I’d love to bring it back on Saturday and just keep rolling with the guys,” IVC infielder Cole Yates said. “Seeing those little kids come who play travel for IVC, it’s great to see them; they want to be us when they’re older, so that feels great, and the atmosphere is electric here every time.”
