Normal Community makes Big 12, 4A statement in win over Richwoods

NORMAL — Normal Community had won 20 games already this season heading into Friday night’s home contest against Richwoods.
However, the Ironmen felt like they hadn’t had a truly big win since winning the State Farm Holiday Classic in December and that it was time that they proved something.
They did so after going on an 18-0 run in the first quarter, sharing the ball between their scorers and making Richwoods star sophomore Amarion Smith-Holley and the Knights work hard for everything in a 60-48 win.
“The goal is always to be playing your best in March and this is one of those nights that will help us, gutting out a tough game against a tough team in a crazy environment,” Witzig said. “So that was just a really good one for us.”
