

After a spirited showing in our first CSM Winter Athletes of the Week polls, Olivia Corson of Normal Community girls basketball and Quinton Kitt of East Peoria boys basketball won their respective polls after standout performances on the court last week.

Corson won CSM Girls Athlete of the Week with 40 percent of the vote total. Her best performance last week came in a 69-59 win over Big 12 Conference opponent Richwoods, where she scored a game-high 32 points. The win was Normal Community's sixth in a row to start the season and the Lady Iron are off to an 8-1 start after nine games.
Corson is a senior who is committed to play at McKendree University next year and helped Normal Community to a Bloomington/Normal Intercity title at the start of the season, pouring in 22 points in the Lady Iron's 57-54 title-clinching win over Normal West. Last season, she was a first team all-Big 12 pick, as well as an 2nd team all-state selection by the Illinois Basketball Coaches Association.

What are your goals for the season?
"To enjoy my last year of high school basketball and cherish every moment."
If you were stranded on an island with a teammate, who would you want it to be and why?
"I would want to be stranded probably with Sophie [Barlow] because she seems like she would have good survival instincts and could keep us both alive."
Favorite food?
"Mexican food."
I’d want concert tickets to see?
"Morgan Wallen."
If I could have a superpower it would be?
"The ability to fly."
Who do you think is the greatest basketball player of all time?
"Michael Jordan."
Who’s your role model and why?
"My role model is my grandpa, he is one of the hardest-working people that I know and will do anything for the people he loves."
What’s been your favorite memory of the season so far?
"My favorite memory so far this year is winning our third Intercity title."
East Peoria's Quinton Kitt won the CSM Boys Athlete of the Week poll with 55 percent of the vote total after a breakout week where he helped East Peoria hang with Peoria High before the Raiders took down Taylorville and Limestone later in the week. The freshman forward showed why he's on of the top underclassmen talents in the area with a double-double of 15 points and 11 rebounds in a 63-53 loss to Peoria High. Kitt put up 14 points and seven rebounds in East Peoria's 50-47 win over Limestone in his first Mid-Illini Conference game.

"[To get] first team all-conference as a freshman."
If you were stranded on an island with a teammate, who would you want it to be and why?
"Cole Dubois because me and him have been brothers since the second grade."
Favorite food?
"Ribs."

"Drake."
If I could have a superpower it would be?
"Invisibility."
Who do you think is the greatest basketball player of all time?
"LeBron James, for sure."
Who’s your role model and why?
"My mom because she helps me with a lot and pushes me every day."
What’s been your favorite memory of the season so far?
"Every moment with my team is my favorite."
