Athletes from Peoria Notre Dame swept the voting for the penultimate CSM Spring Athletes of Week, presented by Dominos with baseball player Jackson Campbell taking home CSM Boys Athlete of the Week and girls soccer player Alli Stickelmaier winning CSM Girls Athlete of the Week.
Both players helped their teams take their teams deep into the postseason and win sectional titles, with Campbell and the Irish reaching their first super-sectional game in 13 years and Stickelmaier helping PND’s girls soccer team win a competitive Class 2A Washington Sectional title as well. Campbell won CSM Boys Athlete of the Week after racking up 41 percent of the vote total in the CSM Boys Athlete of the Week poll. He drove in both of PND’s runs in its 2-0 win over Illini West in the Class 2A IVC Sectional Title game on May 25, hitting an RBI single in the first inning and plating another run on a fielder’s choice in the sixth. The Irish eventually fell to Wilmington in the Class 2A Geneseo Super-Sectional, but still finished with a record of 22-11, placing second in the Big 12 and winning their first sectional title since 2011.

What have been your goals for the season?
“My goal for the season was to obviously try to go out and win every game, but really to do my job every single day and to be the best teammate possible.”
What’s your favorite memory of playing your sport?
“Hitting my first home run.”

“Steak and eggs.”
What’s on your bucket list?
“To visit all 30 MLB ballparks.”
Who’s your favorite teacher at school?
“Mr. Lowder because he’s fun to mess around with and always shares his leftovers with me.”
Who’s your role model and why?
“My role models would be my dad, Jeff, my uncle,Jason, and my grandpa Gary because [with] all three of them, I know that I can go to them for advice about life, to talk about my swing, or even just go fishing for the day. All three of them play a major role in my life and I wouldn’t be where I am today without them.”
Stickelmaier won CSM Girls Athlete of the Week after garnering 48 percent of the votes in the CSM Girls Athlete of the Week poll. Her goal, scored off a header in the 32nd minute, was the difference-maker in a 1-0 victory over Richwoods in the Class 2A Washington Sectional Title game. Stickelmaier and the Irish went to advance to the state finals, where they finished third. The junior defender finished her season with eight goals and one assist.

“Win the area, never give up when there is a letdown, and never shy away from heading the ball.”
What’s your favorite memory of playing your sport?
“Playing in the 2015 Monster Match tournament and winning a game 3-2. I scored all 3 of our goals and prevented them from scoring a goal to tie by saving a ball off of the goal line.”

“Pizza.”

“Traveling to Hawaii and the Bahamas.”

“My mom is my biggest role model. She is never afraid to be herself and has shown me full support in everything I do. She always gives me a lending hand and is always there for me, during my good and bad moments.”
