CHILLICOTHE – After seven innings of top-notch baseball, Eureka have achieved something they haven’t done in twelve years: win a sectional final.

Between 2014 and 2024, the Hornets made five sectional final appearances, but weren’t able to get the job done since placing third at state in 2013. Now, that curse has been broken and the Hornets are a game away from a state berth after a 3-0 win over IVC in the Class 2A IVC Sectional championship.

“That was a great game. IVC is a great team, and I respect those guys a lot,” Eureka second baseman Cooper Peterson said. “I just think we rose to the occasion, we all played together, everybody played a part from the dugout to the guys in the field, and it was just a great day of baseball.”
