SPRINGFIELD — Temperatures in Springfield on Thursday didn’t dip below 50 degrees, but there was a 100 percent chance of Snow.
Needing an answer after dropping its first set against Morton, Normal U-High turned to their most passionate, determined player with its season on the line in the Class 3A Springfield Southeast Sectional title match.
And senior outside hitter Laney Snow helped bury the Potters, giving the Pioneers some of their biggest points in a see-saw 25-23 second-set win and a 25-9 runaway in the deciding set.
“We decided in the third set that we didn't want our season to end tonight,” Snow said. “We said that we're going to give all that effort on every single ball, doesn't matter the score. It feels good, especially after the past two years, to finally pull out a sectional win.”
