The Heart of Illinois Conference is gearing up for what looks to be another competitive and entertaining season with no shortage of teams that can contend.
Eureka represented at the Class 2A state finals and finished third a season ago and the Hornets will turn to a largely new-look group to try and maintain the high level of success that the program has had. Contrastingly, Tremont is well-stocked with returning talent and next-level players who are ready to break through and win a conference title.
Heyworth is coming off a run to the Class 1A sectional finals and has several key pieces back. Dee-Mack, Fieldcrest and Tri-Valley all return a handful of notable starters after middle-of-the-pack finishes last season and El Paso-Gridley is more experienced than it was last year in hopes of joining that mix.
Below is Clutch Sports Media’s spring scope-out for Heart of Illinois Conference baseball with primers on each of the seven teams listed above, highlighting what and who to watch out for in the 2026 season.
