The Roundup, April 14, 2026: Dunlap, Metamora softball win shutouts in conference play, PND soccer, Normal Community baseball win tight games

A healthy dose of girls soccer, track and field and tennis on top of another large slate of baseball and softball made for plenty of action on Tuesday with several of the top teams in the area receiving strong tests.
In softball, Dunlap edged past East Peoria late in the game for a key Mid-Illini win while Normal Community and Normal U-High picked up close wins and Peoria Notre Dame won on a walk-off from Ella Tady. Normal Community baseball got a test from Morton, but won a close one while Canton, IVC and Farmington picked up decisive wins.
PND had its closest matchup of the season against a Big 12 foe in girls soccer with several other area teams winning by mercy rule. Washington, Dunlap and Farmington won meets in boys track and field while Dunlap and Morton did the same on the girls side. Metamora boys tennis kept rolling with a shutout win too.
