A swelteringly hot Monday canceled several outdoor events, but the heat didn’t affect Jack Quinn or Normal U-High boys golf too much as the Pioneers won in a crowded local field at the Coyote Creek Classic. Washington, Dunlap, Morton, Pekin, Richwoods and Peoria Notre Dame joined them as some of the top finishers and each had individual standouts.
A handful of area volleyball teams won on Monday, including Bloomington Central Catholic who gave Heyworth its first loss of the year. Normal U-High was also victorious in flag football and Normal Community won on the gridiron and in Intercity action on the soccer pitch.
