Friday night was loaded with top-notch basketball action around Central Illinois and many teams made statements with key victories before the holidays.
East Peoria and Canton used strong performances from their leading duos to win contests in the Mid-Illini. Peoria High and Manual each took down fellow Big 12 title contenders in close contests while Eureka, Dee-Mack and Normal U-High all flexed their muscles by beating formidable opponents.
In girls hoops, Tri-Valley was one of several area teams to beat a previously-undefeated opponent, PND rolled to victory and several teams were in action at the Heyworth Holiday Tournament. Morton, Normal Community, Bloomington and Dee-Mack wrestling were also in action.
