A full Saturday of prep sports on the hardwood, mats and pool had pivotal contests all the way around, especially in Morton where the Potters’ boys and girls basketball teams won crucial conference matchups.
IVC, Normal U-High and Peoria Christian also won notable games on the boys side while Dee-Mack’s Jerry Hahn was a scoring machine in a big Chiefs win. Pekin also snapped a lengthy losing streak.
Midland and Dee-Mack had strong showings in girls hoops while Washington matched up with fellow state power Nashville.
Girls wrestling regionals featured 46 athletes who punched their tickets to sectionals and Washington won the Mid-Illini title in boys swim.
