The Roundup, Jan. 19, 2026: Mid-Illini impresses at girls shootout, several boys powers win at MLK shootouts

A busier-than-usual Monday of high school hoops was headlined by several Martin Luther King Jr. Day Shootouts and the Heart of Illinois Conference Tournament.
Mid-Illini teams won six out of the eight games at the Mid-Illini/Big 12 Shootout in girls hoops while Dee-Mack survived an upset bid from El Paso-Gridley in one of four HOIC quarterfinal contests. Peoria High, Normal Community, Manual, Metamora, Normal U-High and East Peoria were all victorious against non-conference foes in boys hoops.
The Normal Community Invite in girls wrestling featured six area grapplers taking home first-place trophies.
