The Roundup, May 29, 2026: BCC, Brimfield, Dunlap Washington win softball sectionals, Morton girls soccer wins sectional, plus state track and tennis

Friday was a successful day for Central Illinois high school sports as four softball teams and a girls soccer team won sectional titles, several boys track and field athletes put up some of the best marks of the day in the state finals prelims and two boys tennis doubles pairings will play on the season’s final day.
Bloomington Central Catholic softball continued its magical run in the playoffs with its first sectional title in program history, Washington’s Sophie Walker hit a massive late home run to give Washington a title and Dunlap and Brimfield/Elmwood all took home sectional plaques as well.
Morton girls soccer punched its ticket to the Class 2A Elite Eight in soccer while Peoria Notre Dame’s season came to an end. Track and field contingents from Metamora and Morton led the way in Friday’s prelims and tennis doubles pairings from Dunlap and Metamora each have a chance to bring home medals at state on Saturday.
