Just a handful of Peoria and Bloomington/Normal-area football teams are still without a blemish on their record with three weeks of the season in the rearview mirror.
Dunlap and Metamora faced off in a see-saw battle that saw lead change after lead change with the host Eagles winning thanks to a late fourth quarter touchdown pass from Eli Michanicou to Bo Sutter and a strong ground game. Bloomington Central Catholic also played in a thriller against Tolono Unity and came up just short in a nailbiter of a contest.
Bloomington, Elmwood/Brimfield, El Paso-Gridley and Eureka all pitched shutouts to win with EPG joining Dunlap, Heyworth, Normal Community, Normal West and Tri-Valley as the unbeaten teams in the area. Peoria High and Washington got their first wins of the season while Olympia and Farmington both bounced back from Week 2 losses.
Normal West and Normal Community volleyball, plus Peoria Christian and Morton boys soccer were also in action.
Check out all the scores, recaps and top performers from Friday below in The Roundup!
