The Roundup, Sept. 5, 2026: Morton volleyball takes home hardware, six cross country teams win meets

Cross country, volleyball and soccer led the way on Saturday in Central Illinois’ high school sports action with Morton winning a highly-competitive volleyball tournament and cross country race.
The Potters volleyball team polished off a title at the Edwardsville Tiger Classic while its boys cross country team claimed first in Galesburg. Dee-Mack and Bloomington Central Catholic also beat the heat in the morning to win boys cross country meets while Pekin, Dunlap and Tri-Valley were winners on the girls side.
A handful of football and flag football games took place including Intercity flag football action and Tremont taking on LeRoy in Heart of Central Illinois Conference football action. Soccer teams such as Normal Community and Normal West scored narrow wins while Dunlap won big over Quincy. PND girls swimming and Farmington golf also competed.
