‘We all want it more and we want to win’: Brimfield capitalizing on strong season with depth, seniors

BRIMFIELD, ILL. — If a complete team were a recipe, Brimfield would have all the ingredients for it.
The Indians are off to a 15-4 start, marking the best 19-game start by a Brimfield team since the 2014-15 season, when they won the Class 1A state championship. This year, they are a threat to return to the IHSA’s grandest stage in Champaign.
The coach who won that state title, Scott Carlson, remains on the sidelines for the Indians in his 28th year, and the IBCA hall-of-famer has a wealth of weapons at his disposal. He is the head of one of the more formidable offenses in the area with the likes of Connor Doe and Dawson Traphagan.
But the Indians’ head coach likes what he has seen out of his defense. Initially a question mark for Brimfield has turned into a key strength.
