MORTON — New Morton soccer head coach Zach Statham knows that the results may not be there right away for the Potters, but the former East Peoria and Monmouth-Roseville head coach feels like he’s in control of a sleeping giant in the Mid-Illini.
Morton finished below .500 a year ago, but played a challenging schedule and still finished in the top half of the conference with a young team. The Potters will still be young in 2025, but the team still expects to remain competitive and be highly-experienced come next season.
Helping Statham in his first year are Mid-Illini all-conference second team forward Alex McKie, the traditions set in place by his predecessor, Tory DeLong, and a team and community that have embraced the new Morton head coach.
