Whether by coincidence or by design, Week 2 of the IHSA football season in Central Illinois is filled to the brim with rivalry matchups.
In Peoria, a pair of always-intriguing Big 12 matchups — Peoria High vs. Peoria Notre Dame and Richwoods vs. Manual — lead the way.
In Bloomington/Normal, the Chili Bowl is up for grabs between Normal Community and Normal West with the Wildcats seeking to win it back for the first time since 2022. Bloomington and Normal U-High face off in a rivalry that is blooming again after having laid dormant for several years. All four of those teams began the year with Week 1 wins.
In the Heart of Illinois, the Route 9 Rivalry (Dee-Mack vs. Tremont), I-39 Rivalry (Fieldcrest vs. El Paso-Gridley) and I-74 Rivalry (Tri-Valley vs. LeRoy) will make for heightened emotions while the Route 78 Rivalry between Farmington and Elmwood/Brimfield has big implications in the LincolnLand (Large) Race.
Clutch Sports Media will have a free, live broadcast of our WMBD Game of the Week on ciproud.com as the Normal West Wildcats host the Normal Community Ironmen on Friday at 7:00 p.m with pregame coverage starting at 6:45.
Additionally, CSM will have another free, live broadcast between the PND Irish and Peoria High Lions from Peoria Stadium at 7:00 p.m. in our Clutch Sports Media Game of the Week, which can be watched on clutchsportsil.com.
Our staff has made their predictions for 11 of the top games in the area in Week 2 with their comments also listed below. Broadcasters for our broadcasted games are ineligible to pick winners for the game that they are broadcasting and will pick the winner of an extra game instead.
